Marseille One Design

Marseille One Design is held at one of France’s top sailing venues. Located on the Rade Sud between the city’s famous Prado beach and the off-lying Frioul Islands, the course is picturesque, with a backdrop including the imposing hill top basilica, Notre-Dame de la Garde,. For competitors it also offers a solid sea breezes as well as the possibility of stronger winds associated with the famous Mistral.
The city, which is the second biggest in France, has huge experience hosting major yacht racing events, including the finish of The Race, non-stop around the world in maxi-multihulls in 2001, Louis Vuitton Act 1 of the 32nd America’s Cup, the Audi MedCup circuit for the TP52s, the Extreme Sailing Series, the ISAF World Championship, the World Match Racing Tour and many more. It will be the second occasion the GC32s have taken part in Marseille One Design, where the intention is for them to participate alongside other foiling classes such as the singlehanded Moth.
Marseille One Design is backed by the city in the build-up to it being the European Capital of Sports in 2017.
